Deconstructing Glenn Beck Lies

Principle 8

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

On your right to disagree ‘In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.’ George Washington

Nobody ever said it was un-American to disagree with authority or share your opinion. That is, it’s not unless your OPINION IS UN-AMERICAN. It’s UN-AMERICAN to spread known lies in a national debate. It’s UN-AMERICAN to threaten the life of the President or any other government official just because they are ignoring your whims. It’s UN-AMERICAN to tell your supporters that their family has higher authority than the government so you can do whatever you want. It’s UN-AMERICAN to suggest that you can live your life in the US and enjoy the blessings of liberty and the infrastructure and security our government has built and NOT PAY FOR IT.

You’re UN-AMERICAN, Beck. In fact, you ought to be living in a nation that supports your theocratic, autocratic, authoritarian view. How about Iran? You look good in a turban.

  1. 8. We have the right to our opinions, to disagree with authority, to debate and protest. But in normal circumstances we don’t have the right to foment uprisings and revolution, to lie and exaggerate to make unrest where there was none, to object to rational courses of action in the hope of getting people to pursue destructive courses of action, act against their best interests, and wreck the freedom we give so much lip service to. And as is often said, we don’t have the right to our own facts.

  2. What is absolute hypocrisy is that the right wingers said it was un-American to criticize Bush, un-American to criticize a President during “wartime”, if you criticized the President that somehow meant you don’t support the troops and etc. That type of logic was used all the time from the right wing Bush crowd. But…… now that a Democratic POTUS is in office, it is not un-American? Make up your damn mind….this is just another blatant hypocrisy from these people. He also stole this “principle” from Hillary Clinton as she said this same thing years ago LOL.

  3. “It’s UN-AMERICAN to suggest that you can live your life in the US and enjoy the blessings of liberty and the infrastructure and security our government has built and NOT PAY FOR IT.”

This is fair and full of truth.

  4. Thanks for your comment.

Glad you like this; I wish more of the anti-tax “big government” people would think about what it might be like to hop in their car and drive 350 miles on single lane dirt roads to Grandma’s for a bit of turkey.
