Wow. Nice link, nice comment. Thank you very much.

Quinlan and I view this task as a public service and also one way of expressing our civic responsibility. So we take this deadly serious. Thank you again for the link, and I will contact MS Rodda after I read her book, which looks like an excellent source of material.

I am working on 3 pages at the moment and one long overdue post about the contest between the Mormons and Fundies for control of the fringy right. I have to admit that I was somewhat amazed when Liberty U hired Beck to give the commencement speech. That was a holy cow moment for me.

The pages in progress are The History of Progressives, Who Fought The Nazis, and Glenn Beck-Domestic Terrorist. The one that's maybe not quite obvious as to subject is Who Fought The Nazis. This page will be about the German resistance movement, the people who actually fought to prevent Hitler and the Nazis from taking power and then continued with assassination plots. The point of this page should be apparent to any Glenn Beck aficionado. Beck is always saying that Progressives and leftists and socialists are the same as Nazis and that we would have been fighting to put Hitler in power. Absolute poppycock. The progressives, students, intellectuals, artists, and many other groups of similar belief were the ones who fought the rise of Hitler and paid with their lives. This, as well as who the progressives are and where we came from, needs to be corrected because Beck is jerking everybody's chain with the "progressive" label the same way Rush Limbo did with the "liberal" label.

The irony of Glenn Beck giving history lessons, starting a "university", and using the anniversary of the "I have a dream" speech to pull off a stunt at the Lincoln Memorial called "restoring honor" is so overwhelming that it takes one aback. It's hard to process. I think it ought to be funny, so Stewart and Colbert can make hay with it. But goldmonger Beck is taking this and the faithful for a big, long ride and it needs to be dealt with before we have more situations like this....

<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eric-boehlert/glenn-becks-incendiary-an_b_660429.html" rel="nofollow">Glenn Beck's Incendiary Angst Is Dangerously Close to Having a Body Count </a> Eric Boehlert is who has convinced me to get off my duff and put up the "Domestic Terrorist" page. I hope to have it up soon.

Thanks again for the kind words & great link!

I just found your site, and while I haven't read every comment yet, I have appreciated the honest discourse. And collecting the lies of GB is certainly a vital service. Especially with the birth of the uber-ridiculous GB University. Argh. It pains me.
If you haven't discovered her yet, here's an excellent source for you. She debunks Beck point for point.

Yeah, I'm a proud, tax-paying citizen, have been all my life. So that means I have a clean conscience when it comes to driving on public roads, going to public libraries and buildings, feeling secure under the nuclear umbrella, and yes, helping people who are less fortunate than me. That's what I consider to be good citizenship; I take pride in our public school system, once the crown jewel of the western world. I take pride in people who have fought hard and bled and cried and lost and won to bring the basic human rights to all citizens of our nation regardless of color. I salute the progressives who realized that there are better ways to govern, better ways to serve all citizens with equal services and dignity regardless of social standing and race.

Your thesis seems to be that in order for socialism to work it has to be based on wealth redistribution. Well, maxx, you're living in a wealth re-distribution world. You probably didn't hear the story tonight on Countdown about the City Manager of Bell, California who just got cold busted for having jacked his salary up to almost $800k. The Asst. Mgr and the Police Chief got similar amounts. You see, that's a perfect example of the wealth redistribution system at work. It's people who can't CONTROL the exchange of dollars having to PAY for it. Corporations are perfect little models of the Bell system, too. I've worked in a few in my days. There's always some incompetent jackass who has risen to the peak of his incompetence running the business into the ground, and just before it crashes and burns, golden parachute.

The moral? Little people get screwed by big people. Corporations screw their workers, companies screw their investors and their workers, it's a wealth distribution system of epic proportions and guess where the money is going, maxx? It's going <em>UP THE FOOD CHAIN.</em>

That's right, maxx, all of this socialist wealth redistribution that you posit isn't really happening. But there really IS something happening, maxx, and that is that wealth is moving UP the food chain. The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer, and the middle class is... well... it's sort of evaporating.

I had to laugh. A few weeks ago it came to my attention that Glenn actually contended that yeah, the middle class is shrinking... they're moving into the UPPER class! LOL that's so freaking hilarious I thought I might spit my beer about that. But how many of YOU Beckerheads took that in and believe it? Do you believe that the middle class is moving to the upper class, maxx? Because it's NOT, maxx. A simple look at the US Census figures shows us what's happening and it's not pretty. There are more people living in poverty now than ever before in our history. There are hundreds of thousands of households that are one paycheck away from foreclosure on that icon of American investments, their own HOUSE.

Your side makes a common mistake when you think and talk about government. You equate the size of the government with the size of the haul they take in every year in taxes. That's not the way it works. I wish you would get that straightened out because it confuses a lot of people, mostly on your side.

What was the Bush Administration's motivation when it set up the corporate tax system so that companies could rent a PO box in Cabo and then claim to be a foreign company exempt from US regulations and taxes? And what was the motivation when it made the tax system a convenient excuse to send factories overseas?

Where do you think wealth comes from, maxx? It comes from value added to materials, doesn't it? So you can have a pile of iron ore and a bunch of bricks and some coal and a few pieces of smelting equipment, but you don't have steel yet. It takes the people with the knowhow and the back muscles to put together the steel mill and get it running. And it takes the workers on the floor to risk their necks out there handling white hot steel to make it into something Yet on top of that class of people, let's call them the creators, is another class, let's call them the leeches. They don't produce a goddam thing, all they do is go to their cubicle to shuffle papers every day and meet and drink coffee and make reports. Sometimes that part of the business, the leeches, suck just as much money or even MORE per capita than the people on the floor who are actually creating the product. That doesn't seem right, does it? Does it? Why should someone who knows nothing about what's happening on the factory floor make 2 or 3 or 400 to 500 times more than the highest paid person on the floor and for that money what they do is ship the factory overseas?

Now maxx, this is your first post here, and it's not a bad one. Did I run into you at that goofball GOPER site this morming? Wow, what a turn off. "Primitives"? WTF is that all about? I think Frankie ought to check his chest and see if he can find something to stuff in that giant hole where his heart ought to be. Jesus. So maxx, let's talk about this. Not the other site, but this topic that you posted to. It's Glenn Beck Lies. If you would like we can talk about a specific thing that I listed that you don't think is a lie, or you can do whatever you want. Just don't try to whip up support for Rand Paul, that's all I ask. (haha, little joke there).

I don't always have time during the day to check for posts, so don't feel bad if your post isn't approved right away or if I approve it but don't answer right away.

Have a good evening.

Wexler,
I noticed in your comments that you state that you are a proud Socialist. Thanks to the democrats and progressive movement the US is becoming just that. Socialism is based on a collective society. Meaning that all should do their part for the benefit of the collective. The government helps out by redistributing the wealth through taxes. So no matter how hard you work you will get the same as everyone else unless of course you are the one in power at the government level or have connections. There is one problem with this concept that everyone gets the benefits equally, seems over time society discovers that they don't have to work so hard to get the same thing. So the welfare state grows until it out weighs the working class. Government raises taxes to support the welfare state and grows government programs to employ those that are not willing to provide for them selves. Eventually you run out of other peoples money. So a government is forced to use monetary inflation in order to pay its debts. You know I just heard that phrase recently. Hmm? Oh I know where, it was the CBO.GOV Directors BUDGET REPORT!

And Chris, it's not 5 or 10 miles, it's 5000-10000ft. Yes, Soros did invest in Petrobras. What luck that the rigs in the gulf might be moved to Brazil.

Hi, Chris...

I am in a big hurry at the moment, but I just wanted to approve your comment and let you know it will be answered as soon as I have a chance... Also, and this is a tip, not a cheap Spelling Nazi thing... I use Firefox and it has a spellchecker that works with all or almost all of my web applications including a very good popup dictionary. I would be LOST without it... when I am writing notes for my student's lessons I have to use pencil and comp book and my spelling is such mess you wouldn't believe!

Cheers,
Wexler

Oh, Iam not confused with socialism…I understand that the state controls the means of production but I would like to point out that I do like your certain cases where socialism exists in the U.S. BUT I would like to point out that do any of these govt. programs run in the black? Beurocratic(sp?) tape kills most of our already run govt. entities to me anyway. So limited to the ones you stated plus education is fair in my book. The ditch digger/doctor paradigm was merely pointing out that if our govt. controlled all means of production and the only reason I would say health should be a public option is the fact that looking around the world most govt. run health care systems lack what we have today. You would have to read my past post about our rankings from “WHO” and my points on why our health is actually better than believed.
Iam sorry to hear what happened to you in 2006…What was happening in the ER that night? Was it busy? Did there initial diagnosis not see it in time? I’ve heard of lots of people being misdiagnosed with acute app. Or not seeing it right off the bat. Emergency rooms are tricky places…acting quickly and deciding who needs to be treated first is usually based on initial comments from patients …or the obvious. Glad to hear that once they realized what they had that they were able to take care of you.
I’ve based a lot of my decision on what doctors have told me and what I’ve heard from people who’ve moved to this country from govt. run health care systems. My example of our head coach who lost his job because of his back problems…waiting almost a year to have back surgery that would’ve been done within a week in the U.S.
I cringe when I see articles from the huffington post…they are as liberal a newspaper as they get. I wanted to provide some statistics in regards to the AZ law and would say that some of the crime statistics can in fact be in relationship with Illegal immigrant activity…NOT that the law should be based on that but the fact that people are running around our country undocumented is what worries me most….there is no reason for that and I think that our conversation about how to get easier access to green cards or work visas should be appropriate. Here are some statistics I found:
http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/stories/2009/07/27/daily89.html
Global warming or climate change? I don’t buy into it…what I buy into is that I’ve been to L.A. and San Diego and can see what pollution does…which leads to why getting rid of fossil fuels is important. I am all for cleaning up and going green but for someone to tell me that going green means I will now have a “carbon tax” is utter B.S. Cap and trade is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard of. I asked myself why Al Gore became such a big proponent considering he is no scientist and found some alarming things…#1 He owns part of a company that will be getting 3% of all the money exchanged thru cap and trade around the world..(think about that when we are talking TRILLIONS of dollars) and #2 He also has invested money in an electric car company. So
Our world goes thru cycles its proven (Ice Age, deserts used to be jungles..etc.) , I don’t think there is anything we can do to stop it. BUT we can clean up and with our technology we can get off fossil fuels. Another thing I’ve looked into that Iam watching closely is how Obama is handling the off-shore drilling….George Soros was giving a LOT of money from our govt. and invested a LOT of his own money into an off shore drilling company from Brazil…I have my own theories in regards to that. And what scares me even more is that company is planning on drilling 5 or 10 miles below the sea bottom off brazil.
I agree …no more oil or gas and just use our reserves….reality is that it will take our country more than 20 years to transition if we were to stop cold turkey right now…considering everything that runs of fossils and transitioning businesses and testing etc…..some people don’t realize that our aircraft and military technology is based on technology that is more than 20 years old….life cycles which from the inception (idea) to production usually takes 20 years. But I think if we stop importing and focused on it we could get off fossils entirely.
I don’t think its fair to generalize on group and say they are the culprits to driving big SUV etc….that you stated. I know plenty of DEMS who believe in driving as fast and driving whatever they want. Teabaggers as you call them have a good intention…at one time I agreed with a lot of what they said and then the vultures started to take over….Republicans that couldn’t make it as Republicans started joining the cause…they tainted it my eyes. I was upset when Bush bailed out the corporations and then Obama kept what Bush did going….its utter B.S. Our country was built on Capitalism and other businesses would have devoured those companies that were ill-managed and going bankrupt…it happens everyday. Plus the Bank bail-out…B.S. That is what banks pay into the FDIC insurance for…..that money is suppose to fix that problem and our govt. didn’t let it do the job it was made to do in the first place after the stock market crash.
Anyway…I must run….have church and community duties today. Hope you guys have a good Sunday

Qu1n1an emailed me that he'd be out-of-pocket this weekend so I'm up. My last student for the day just left, nice gent, Viet Nam vet who took a slug through the front of his thigh that exited out his tailbone. He has no tailbone any more, but is OK in general.

I think the thing with socialism is that people get it confused with equalization of wealth. It's really not that at all. What it is, simply, is that we agree that the state can do things better than individual businesses can in certain cases. We have already agreed as a society that our police and fire departments, military, intelligence, and so on, are best done by our government. We have decided that we should make sure that our elderly have a minimum standard of living and medical care. Now we have extended that to our poor (over the next few years). This is not income equalization at all, so the ditch digger/doctor paradigm is irrelevant. However, to me it makes perfect sense to extend socialism to health care, to funeral care, to colleges and universities (except Beck U), and so on. This isn't to "equalize" anything, it's for the betterment of our country. We need healthy, educated people to drag us into the 21st century, whether Beck and Falwell and the GOP agree to it or not. Who gives a shit about them? They are trying to hold us back as a nation, they are trying to solve everything with "tough love" instead of realism. I do not want to go to the ER like I did in 2006 with acute appendicitis and have it perforate while I was waiting for an effing MD to please give me some friggin morphine, or ANYTHING. That's exactly what happened, I ended up spending a WEEK in the hospital for what should have been in and out.

The Arizona law is totally based on fallacies. Please read this. <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/09/dana-milbank-calls-premis_n_641165.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/09/dana-milbank-calls-premis_n_641165.html</a>

I can't speak for Qu1n1an but I think the right wing media is chock full of liars with an agenda to turn this country into a bunch of jingoistic, 'exceptionalist', grabbastic, entitled, money-worshiping assholes who would rather step over somebody dying in the street than help them out. The premise is that we have some kind of individual and collective "right" to take anything we want from any other country by force because of any array of excuses. Oh, we need that oil. Oh, we helped them in WWII. Oh, we "beat" the USSR (that's the absurd meme of the ignoramus Reagan-worshiper). Fox News lies constantly. It's not just that they lie, they lie and then they draw false conclusions from the lie. Then one of their other news shows quotes "some sources" as saying the lie, and the echo chamber rebounds with dis- and mis-information. It's totally sickening, it's anti-American, it's counterproductive, it's blocking us finding solutions because we can't have any honest conversations about critical issues that are destroying our country because the RWNJ in the media clog the pipes with fake bullshit.

Take global warming for example. The story hit a few months back that the stolen emails "proved" that global warming is a hoax. They proved nothing of the sort and that is a FACT. But all that has to happen is you get the spokes-models at Fox News flapping their gums, and then Limbaugh goes for it, then the next thing you know there are "serious questions" about the validity of the science. It's called "junk science". BULL SHIT. It's real science, and since I'm old and sick I really don't give a fuck any more except for my grand kids, but it just pisses me off that we live in the age of instant communications and it has been corrupted by these dickheads that would rather watch the planet become uninhabitable than have an honest, open conversation about global warming. BTW, in case you're wondering about the emails please read this: <a href="http://mediamatters.org/research/201004060040?lid=1127156&rid=49916174" rel="nofollow">http://mediamatters.org/research/201004060040?lid=1127156&rid=49916174</a>

Well, Chris, I have to stop here, I hope this wasn't too harsh sounding. I'm not pissed at you, I wish that there were more conservatives who were open and realistic. Our problems are not going to be solved by whether a left or right solution is the best; the solution has no political value, it's just a solution. So it frustrates the hell out of me that Obama can't use his bully pulpit (or won't) to just say "Look. No more oil or gas drilling until the EPA and the MMS get their shit together. Period. We've been running on foreign oil for the last 100 years, we can do it for another year while we figure out how to get off of it."

We know for a PLAIN FACT that we can put 7% of the fuel used for transportation back into the pipe by lowering the speed limit to 55 mph. Yet no one, NOT ONE of our spineless elected officials has the nutsack to suggest this to the public. They already know that the American character has been corrupted by right wing media; Americans now think they have "rights" to drive as fast as they want because they're Americans. Screw the environment, screw the road safety, screw the soldiers we have around the world in oil wars. They just wanna drive fast. That's the TeaBagger/Fox News mentality to a Tee. I will drive my Big Fucking SUV as fast and as far as I want at the most inefficient speed it runs at because I'm an Exceptional American.

Frankly, I think we've already been killed, we just don't know we're dead yet.

Don’t get me wrong about the socialism thing…I think it can exist but I think it can co-exist with Capitalism…we’ve proven that and we just need to fine tune it. Why I don’t think Socialism will work 100%? Well someone put it to me like this…the world will always need ditch diggers and paying someone the same amount as a person aspires to be a doctor is ridiculous….9 times out of 10 a person would pick up a shovel if they knew they could make as much money as a doctor. Plus having your govt. control the means of production again leads to corruption (which we already can see happen today with some govt. run programs) Look at what occurs in the police dept. today….tons of overtime given when it would be economically smarter to hire a few more police officers. OR look at how our govt. officials use there positions to gain knowledge for the stock market, back door deals allowing leaniancy(sp?), etc….govt. officials corrupted to the core….that is why our govt. officials should only be given power to be referees so to speak making sure corporations run fairly and appropriately….just to name one job of the govt.
Your point on the AZ law is when we catch a criminal…which that is when they ask for I.D….which all states do anyway…most officers site us with a ticket or give us a warning for not having I.D. What I find funny is that California Penal Code sec. 834b states EXACTLY what the AZ law states. Anyway…that is part of the law..if you commit a crime or traffic violation and an officer ask for I.D. (drivers license) and you don’t have one then steps are taken to prove you’re a legal resident….I have more faith in my police dept. and as I said, sure you might get 1% of the officers that are racist and look at any means to check I.D. but with our technology today they will get busted….80% of police vehicles have cameras and audio so its pretty hard for them to make stuff up. Plus if you look at AB1070 it gives illegals an option to sue if proven the officer didn’t have probable cause to ask for I.D.
Securing our Border is true our troops could do more training on the border and we should have more stations along the borders…perfect training grounds. But I just had a friend come back from Texas who was working on the wall and funding was cut by the Obama administration so they had to stop construction.
Yes….I agree we need to look at making the process easier to become a citizen….that way we can keep track of people in the U.S. and wouldn’t give people the excuse to not be illegal….and give them more rights in the work force.
The lying thing in regards to liberals lol….I think my friends who are teachers would be offended you called them air-headed lol.
I think you’ll find that most people who are conservative (I hate being placed as a “righty” or “republican”) are like me but for some reason when they get on a computer they can start spewing some of the dumbest sh#t…which I have a conservative friend that has a tendancy to do that….like he morphs into a different person but if he were having a conversation in person he is much more respectable and thoughtful…funny what anonymity does to people.
Patriot act bothers me too…but what do u do when we have so many nationalities living in one country and we don’t know who could be our enemy? I mean 9/11 over 3k people killed within an hour and everyone was like wtf? Obviously, they admitted to having more “cell terrorists” in our country…how would you find them? And if Bush didn’t do anything don’t you think people would have went for his head…well at least more than a shoe;)…plus we should remember that more than a majority of our representatives signed it into law…it just wasn’t Bush who created the law.
Yes the extreme right conservatives frustrate me….go waaaay to far but I think we can find that on both sides of the isle. You have that 5% of the crowd that you want to throw over the cliff. Example the pink ladies….they can be a little over the top…have you ever watched the videos of them protesting the marine headquarters in Berkley? So we have extremists on both sides of the fence we both would like to say behind them in a silent lip reading manner…”not with us”. Lol
Lol…I like your dingbat analogy lol
Funny you said that about running….no way I would be able too lol. Plus, my wife says I am more biapartisan….I almost call myself a centralist but then I looked that word up and that is NOT a political word I want to be associated with lol.

I agree with Qu1n1an. You're too damn nice to be a righty. We have openings, especially in California. (BTW, I'm in flyover country.)

I'm whupped after a long day but I just want to say something about the illegal immigration issue.

There are three possible places to put blame. First, you can look at those who come in as criminals who are breaking Federal law by crossing the border illegally. Second, you can look at it as a legal problem from the standpoint that we should just open our borders like they have done in Europe and let people mill about as they will. Third, you can look at it as a consumer-side issue in that the people who are causing the problem are the people who hire illegal immigrants because they can get them to do work we won't do for slave labor wages.

Have I left anything out? If so please add it in as I am very fatigued at present and the only thing keeping me going right now is my spell-checker. (Note to Joe).

I tend to believe that the biggest problem is the third one. I think we wouldn't have all these illegal immigrants here if managers of companies that hired them faced jail time. If families who hired them were faced with Federal felony charges. If that happened, then we would see the situation change over time.

I should also add that I believe that securing the border is one of those "DUH" things that should have been done long before 9/11 but Jeezus on a bike what the f*ck was Bush waiting for AFTER 9/11? Instead now we have the government reading our email and tapping our telephones at will. We have the USA PATRIOT Act that is a kick in the balls (or appropriate other body parts) to anyone who loves idea of a Constitutional Republic.

Which brings me to the OathKeepers. Stewart Rhodes is a traitor to the US and should be brought up on criminal charges of conspiring to mutiny. The OathKeepers are a bunch of crackhead gun freaks who say the love Jezus and hate fags. They would not exist if McCain had one the election, but since we have a half-black man in the White House, oh, they gotta promise that the Big Bad Socialist Gubbermint will never make them do anything that they wouldn't do anyway.

What a crock of crap. Those people are really killing the conservative movement. They make conservatives look like a bunch of scared rabbits looking for a Lead Dingbat to show them the way out of the wilderness. Chris, you ought to run for office as a mainstream GOPER... you've been more articulate than any of those morons at OathKeepers or any other pseudo-"patriot" movement. They are a pimple on the rump of the GOP trying to turn into a carbuncle.

OK, I'm down for the count.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree about socialism.

In terms of the AZ law - I am not your typical blanket liberal. I have been known to have conservative opinions - and one of mine is when it comes to immigration. However, with that said, I am against the AZ law. The problem is that it inspires racism. If we want to check for citizenship when we catch a criminal, that's fine, but we can't just see a brown person and demand their i.d. card. That's messed up.

I think we do need guard troops at the border - and I do think that we need to be better about deporting illegals. However, I also think we need to make it easier to gain legal citizenship to this country. Have you ever seen the citizenship test? A lot of American residents have tried it and failed it. Anyway, I've got a lot of opinions about immigration but this isn't really the place for them.

When I said liberals are better about lying, I was just talking about how much conservative news spews blatant lies compared to liberal news. If your friends are a little bit too air-headed (no offense) to back up their opinions, please blame that on them and not liberals in general.
