Beck has now stated that the Japan earthquake may be an act of God. Or maybe it's not. He's not saying, he's just sayin'.

So maybe we better just cut it out, what we're doing.

I'm sure Glenn will tell us over the next days what exactly it is that we need to cut out. And I'm sure it will have something to do with gays, socialists, Marxists, Acorn, NPR, and any other random thought that crosses his half-alive brain.

This was from his radio show and reported on Huffington Post.

Bill-

Wow, yeah, everything Wexler said. I'd love to correspond with you on a more regular basis.

In terms of Bush - I think what's unpatriotic is to lie about the president, as so many are doing about Obama. "Born in Kenya", "criminal", it's ridiculous. In terms of Bush, however, sadly his crimes are real and illegal. The invasion of Iraq was blatantly criminal, as well as torture and also some other things that I won't list at the moment. Do I say he's a Muslim? That he was born in, I don't know, Ireland? No, those would be lies and thus unpatriotic. But I do say that he should be tried in a court of law for his crimes.

Best,
Quinlan

Thank you very much for finding us, and thanks for the kind comments. Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy store looking at the next shiny thing to try, and sometimes I feel totally overwhelmed with the amount of hard work it takes to try to keep up with Glenn. Now that he's speaking for God, too, it's like he doubled his staff. And it's still just Quinn and me.

Sigh.

But it's interesting that we have finally heard from somebody who knew Beck in high school. Congratulations, you're the first one to check in. Please be sure to use whatever connections you have with your former classmates to let them know about the website dedicated to Mount Vernon's finest son.

Maybe we should set up a page for people who know or knew or worked for or whatever contact they had with Glenn and let them rant. That would be interesting.

Seriously, would it be all right if Quinn and/or I contacted you via email to see if you had some additional thoughts? I'd love to see scans from the annual, newspaper articles, whatever. He was on the local radio station when he was 15, as I remember. I wouldn't exactly say we're trying to dig up dirt on Glenn, but, umm, well, maybe that's exactly what I'm saying.

I don't think most people know much about Mt. Vernon's politics. They sure don't know about the $1.4 million that Beck stuck the city with. WTF. He couldn't cover the cost out of his $32 million salary? I guess he's just too much of a tightwad for his own good.

Well, I'm hitting the sack now after an amazingly fatiguing day. There have been some comments and emails from great folks, really good stuff. But somehow this one ices the cake.

Thanks Bill, and please don't be a stranger.

Regarding the Mount Vernon Washington incident:

The city got stuck with a $1.4 million bill for Glenn iBeck's visit. That mayor is going to get booted as a result.

I went to school with Glenn Beck. He was a below avarage student. A sniviler, a crybaby and most of all, a compulsive liar.

Very glad to see this website. Keep up the good work.

Hi, Arslan,

Yes, the two things are (govt and private sector) are integrated in many ways. In some ways they are too much integrated (business interests have undue influence) and in others there is not enough integration (citizen apathy). Americans don't want to get involved in government affairs because they don't get immediate gratification. We are used to getting stroked right away, not 2 years down the road when a bill finally gets enough votes to pass.

Oh, and the creepy George Michaels song "Father Figure" describes America's relationship with the office of President. Hang onto your skivvies, there, Yanks. You just gave the man your VOTES, not a MAGIC WAND.

As to your help, it would be appreciated in any way you can. I was going to address your long first post but I wanted to see Quinlan's thoughts on it first. We still have it and instead of emailing it to you I will just approve it, along with your others. Quinlan is extremely overbooked right now, but maybe he can get some time to address your excellent comments over the weekend.

Cheers,
Wexler

I can't make any guarantees but if you want and I have enough time I can write some explanations to help shatter Beck's nonsense about issues like that. If that comment I made was saved(the first, big one), it would be good if you could send it to my e-mail because I could just re-use certain parts.

The key thing is that Americans have to learn that government and private sector are not separate entities, they are symbiotic.

Hi Arslan,

Thanks so much for your readership, support, and comments. It means a lot to us.

I appreciate your liking of the breakdowns. I too wish I could do more of those, but those take me a while and for now I simply don't have the time. I promise, you will see more as soon as I can make them.

In terms of the "definitions" page - yes, you're absolutely right about several of the points you made, and my colleague Wexler has pointed some of those out as well. It's not that I don't know these things or don't want to put them in. The fact is, that page was made extremely fast in order to be up in time for the 8/28 rally, and that's why I didn't have as much time as I would have liked for it. Since then, I've moved on to another high priority project which we should be seeing up here by Friday, and after then perhaps I can spend a day editing the "commies & fascists" page.

Thanks again,
Quinn

Arslan,

For many decades war has reflected class. It has at least since I was fighting age in the 60s. Back then there were some people who had gotten fooled into wanting to go to Viet Nam, but by and large it was a war fought by people in the lower classes. The rest of us got deferments or joined the National Guard. Or, as in my case, got a high draft number in the lottery.

Our current abuse of the poor continues with the volunteer army. I thought it was a GREAT idea at the time, when I was a kid who didn't want to get shot at. But if you think about it, what we've got now is a system that forces people to join up if they want an alternative to their poverty OR attracts an unduly large number of psychos who want to play with bigger and better guns. I'm not saying that the entire military is like that, in fact I have family in the military. I'm just sayin'.

I have a feeling that this is a controversial opinion, and it's really not meant to diss anyone. I would welcome feedback on it. (Ducking behind desk)

About the Purple Heart- Originally the founding fathers were against any kind of medals. IIRC they saw them as being something very European(medals and titles were often awarded to officers who were usually descended from nobility). So originally the Purple Heart was for merit, and I would say the "blood" thing is figurative. However, when we think of how soldiers traditionally earn medals for gallantry, they usually involve spilling one's own blood if not actually dying(as many medals are awarded posthumously). Later on the Medal of Honor was devised, but there was a point in time when there were two different kinds of Medal of Honor and it was difficult to distinguish between the two. Eventually the Purple Heart became the wound medal, the Medal of Honor became the highest award, and so on.

Medals can be a tricky thing because if you read many citations for something like the Bronze Star for example, you might ask yourself how the hell did this guy not win a MOH. Sometimes someone was recommended for the MOH and more or less was cheated out of it for some dumb policy reason. For example, Captain Richard Winters(of Band of Brothers fame)was supposedly recommended for an MOH for his actions at Brecourt Manor(depicted in episode 2 of the series) on D-Day. But the policy at the time limited MOH's to 1 man per division. The MOH in the case of the 101st Airborne went to a Col. Cole for leading a bayonet charge near Carentan. It is worth noting that prior to this action, he led his battalion of 400 men down an exposed causeway under fire that became known as "Purple Heart Lane". But Beck could care less- all they did was get shot.

When Beck takes his fat ass out of his chair, picks up a weapon, and get's his knee-cap shattered by a bullet or his foot severed by a chunk of white-hot mortar round- he can promptly turn down a Purple Heart award. Oh wait that's right, he never had to face such a situation, and never will.

The brain rot that started out in his childhood of drug and alcohol abuse is spreading to his eyes. I don't feel sorry for him in the least. He mocks people's infirmities and physical characteristics regularly, from race to physical handicaps.

The best comment I ever read about this was from someone in the SF Chronicle who posted

"God went for the mute button and missed."

Even to an atheist that's hilarious.
