I have pointed out the serious sins that Beck has committed and continues to commit. You seem to have blinders on about that, and everything else I just posted to you.

I suppose since you say you don’t like Beck we should be on the same side. But since you can’t face up to the truth about the cult that you belong to, what’s the use? You’re not going to change my mind on this, because I see the facts before me and you are just pissing in the wind with denials. And you don’t ever address some of the issues I raise at all.

What you’re doing is reinforcing the stereotype of Mormons. Weasel words, quick dogmatic answer for everything, but when it comes down to owning what it stands for, what the doctrines are, and what its current political actions are, you dummy up.

I’m not going to post your last comment because you have steadfastly refused to document anything, you just keep repeating the same thing over and over. Your statement regarding the bishops makes one of my points for me. He is acting in a way that is supposedly very much NOT like a Mormon (although I’ve learned to know from my interactions with Mormons that there are a lot of you that think and act just like Beck), and his bishop is either not able to control him or he is not attempting to control him.

Beck makes a HUGE deal about how becoming a Mormon was a turning point in his life. Therefore, whether you like it or not, you OWN him unless you disown him. He has threatened to kill people on national media, insinuated that the President is fake and somebody should do something about it, incited people to riot and try to overthrow the government. Now until the head honchos over there disavow him, he’s your problem.

The racism problem is your problem, too. And the homophobia. And the control freak stuff. And the male-dominated structure. And the fact that when you try to leave that “church” you are going to lose everything… your spouse, your kids, your friends, and maybe even your job. It’s a cult. I really wish you’d take me up on my offer to put you in touch with some ex-Mormons who can help you get out of the cult.

I am not suggesting that YOU are a racist, but your (sorry) cult has a rich heritage of racism and although it has made a couple of vague attempts to mollify the severity of its consequences, no one in an official capacity has dared to stand up and reverse the doctrine.

On to Beck. First, the link you provided regarding civil discourse is a general statement and does not mention Beck. I know those of you who despise his views wish it were so, but it is not. As you know, there is a rigid structure of discipline and punishment. It is obvious that what Beck is doing rises to the level of something that would require his own bishop to intervene. This is either not happening or if it is, it is having no effect on Beck’s behavior. NONE. So this could and should be escalated. But it is not, it is tolerated. I made an effort to get a statement from SLC about Glenn Beck. They did nothing but give me the runaround and weasel words. Finally I got the phone number of somebody who was undoubtedly told to screen my calls because I called dozens of times and he never picked up. Maybe you’ll have better luck. Why don’t you give it a try? Instead of starting a website about Beck and how much he doesn’t represent Mormons, try to get the Mormon officers to issue a statement. I’d be willing to bet that if you pushed that hard enough you would be excommunicated.

PS We have not touched on the subject of the Mormons’ official position on LGBT, which includes illegal political activity hiding behind the guise of a tax-exempt organization. This will be dealt with shortly in a page that Quinlan is doing on Beck’s homophobia.

Second, Glenn Beck absolutely does not have the “support of the Apostles and President.” Lack of “calling him out by name” does not constitute support. If you were familiar with the church, you would know that it would be extremely unusual for the church to publicly call out an individual by name. You should have said “SOME Mormons do not believe that black people are cursed by God”. Or perhaps “I’m a Mormon and I don’t believe that black people are cursed by God”. The reason I say that is because the Mormon cult DOES believe that blacks are cursed by God.

You don’t have to look very hard to find this out, so I’ll let you do it for yourself. If you are going to have a website that is anti-Glenn Beck then you are going to have to face some ugly truths and do some digging. I realize that Mormon support for Beck is not universal. However, he has the support of the Apostles and President. They refuse to call him out by name and tell him to shut up. I’m sure you know enough about Mormons to know that if they felt that way they would certainly do it. But they don’t.

I am working on 3 pages at the moment and one long overdue post about the contest between the Mormons and Fundies for control of the fringy right. I have to admit that I was somewhat amazed when Liberty U hired Beck to give the commencement speech. That was a holy cow moment for me.

The pages in progress are The History of Progressives, Who Fought The Nazis, and Glenn Beck-Domestic Terrorist. The one that’s maybe not quite obvious as to subject is Who Fought The Nazis. This page will be about the German resistance movement, the people who actually fought to prevent Hitler and the Nazis from taking power and then continued with assassination plots. The point of this page should be apparent to any Glenn Beck aficionado. Beck is always saying that Progressives and leftists and socialists are the same as Nazis and that we would have been fighting to put Hitler in power. Absolute poppycock. The progressives, students, intellectuals, artists, and many other groups of similar belief were the ones who fought the rise of Hitler and paid with their lives. This, as well as who the progressives are and where we came from, needs to be corrected because Beck is jerking everybody’s chain with the “progressive” label the same way Rush Limbo did with the “liberal” label.

The irony of Glenn Beck giving history lessons, starting a “university”, and using the anniversary of the “I have a dream” speech to pull off a stunt at the Lincoln Memorial called “restoring honor” is so overwhelming that it takes one aback. It’s hard to process. I think it ought to be funny, so Stewart and Colbert can make hay with it. But goldmonger Beck is taking this and the faithful for a big, long ride and it needs to be dealt with before we have more situations like this….
