Deconstructing Glenn Beck Lies

Questions, Controversy Plague Beck’s 8.28 “Restoring Honor” Rally

Ted Nugent SCRUBBED from 8-28 Rally

Glenn Beck having Vapo-Rub applied to face so he can "cry"

Crocodile tears, phony posturing, fractured history, and crackpot conspiracy theories. Move along, no Honor to see here.

Reminder: Please remember to click the Facebook Like and Retweet buttons if you do social networking. There are other social networking tools at the bottom of the page. Don’t forget to book mark! Thanks in advance!

What happens when you put 3 of the most insane, babbling, politically polarizing people on the National Mall and national TV for a day? Hold onto your hats, we’re going to find out. I predict that this will have a boatload of unintended consequences for the TeaBaggers, the GOP, and most of all, Glenn Beck.

Update 8/30: Estimates for the size of the rally that I heard were 80,000 (from Lawrence O’Donnell on KO’s show) to 1 million by Michelle Bachmann. Do you think she has any idea of how long it would take to get 1 million people into and out of the National Mall?

Update 8/29: Here’s a link that somebody posted over at MediaMatters where Beck and his stooges are contemplating what to think about radical socialist Martin Luther King.

Update 8/28: Vendor hawking “Obama’s Card” to people standing in line to get into Glenn Beck’s rally. If you turn this up loud enough, you will hear him say “Obama’s card says ‘Trust me, I’m not a Kenyan born lying arrogant communist that hates America, really I’m not.’ Then on the bottom it says ‘The Ultimate Race Card’. $5 dollars for a deck of cards.” Again, let’s play “Find the Negro”, shall we?

Update 8/28: News and pictures are starting to dribble in from the site. Here’s a video from YouTube. Let’s play a game, shall we? Let’s play “Find the Negro”.

Update 8/27: I just watched a heartbreaking program featuring Brian Williams that documented the reporting on hurricane Katrina in the first 5 days after the storm destroyed one of our nation’s cities. Some of the people in the film were the exact people that Glenn Beck called “scumbags”. And this dude is going to do what tomorrow? Restore what?

Correction: Earlier I reported that the page from May 26 shown below was scrubbed. Apparently there was some issue with that particular page on Glenn’s site. Although I was getting OTHER pages to load, that page came up with a blank screen. My apologies for any inconveniences this error could have caused. Or, on the other hand, my thanks to the staff at Glenn Beck’s website who were able to contact Glenn and get a decision to put it back up.

Update 8/27: Jon Stewart, who has already made his feelings about Glenn’s insanity quite clear, had a few words to say about the rally HERE. Priceless.

Update 8/26: Glenn compares Restoring Honor event to the moon landing, Rosa Parks, and Iwo Jima. Yes, Glenn, you’re out in orbit somewhere, you’re the cracker telling Rosa Parks to get to the rear, and you’re the right wingnut voting to de-fund NASA. We get it.

Update 8/26: Ted Nugent SCRUBBED from event

Last night on Countdown I heard KO say that besides being the Worst Person in the World, Ted Nugent was NOT going to be at the “Restoring Honor” rally. This morning I got curious and started digging around for information about this, because I spent a lot of time researching Ted Nugent for this post and I wanted to see if this could be true. So, I grudgingly went to Beck’s 8-28 website and found the following:

Ted Nugent disappeared from speakers list

Quietly like the stealthy hunter, Glenn removed Nugent from the list just like he'd never been there

The last time I looked at this page the list included Ted Nugent. It is all over the internet that Ted Nugent is on the speakers list. Including on Glenn’s own website, a fact which he apparently hasn’t realized yet….

UPDATE: THE FOLLOWING PAGE WAS SCRUBBED AROUND 6:00 PM CDT ON 8/27. And then returned about 3 hours later.

Beck announces Nugent as 8-28 speaker on his May 26 show

Oops! Scrub isn't quite complete, Glenn, you need to fix this 5/26 transcript of your radio show

There is a movement to revise history in the making! LOL you silly fools.

NewsBusters -- idiots extraordinaire

Coralville Courier -- mental midgets, must think we’re blind

I will list other revisionists as they dare to poke their little heads out of their foxholes.

Update 8/25: Martin Luther King III says that the Beck 8/28 Rally does not reflect his father’s views… and he proves it, too. Citing Beck’s racism, attitude towards the poor and churches who provide for the poor, his intolerance, and bitter war against social justice, MKLIII just thinks Beck is not the dude. This is regardless of what his cousin Alveda King might say.

Update 8/25: Glenn Beck tells his audience that he’s not going to write a fancy speech. Heck no, he’s just going to write a few bullet points and let the Good Lord do all the work. That figures. Even though he stands to make millions of dollars off of this he’s STILL too lazy and/or incompetent to actually work for it. I wonder how Beck feels when he eats a tomato. I mean one picked by some illegal who stood out in the blazing southern California sun for hours to make a couple of bucks a bushel for picking tomatoes. What a big man you are, Glenn. I hope Mormon God is taking his afternoon nap and you get Mormon Satan instead.

Restoring Honor. That’s the title, or subject, or cover story, more likely,

for whatever is going to happen at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on the 47th anniversary of one of America’s most quoted speeches. The speech was given by Dr. Martin Luther King on the issue of civil rights, a speech delivered with passion and love to 200,000 hopeful civil rights activists jammed wall to wall at the Lincoln Memorial. But the Restoring Honor event will have a different cast of people on the stage and in the audience, not working for civil rights, not working for “honor” as they claim, but instead trying to exploit the racial hatred reinvigorated by the election of a black President and the people’s general fear of being crushed under the weight of our failed economy, still reeling from years of conservative mismanagement and undue corporate influence over governmental economic policies.

Glenn Beck’s frequent claims that God speaks to and through him have led him to state that the coincidence of this rally being held on the 47th anniversary of King’s speech is actually divine intervention. How does it happen that this event is on 8/28/10 instead of 9/12, the day that Glenn has claimed as his own with the 9.12 Project? Well, think about it. 9/12/10 is a Sunday, not usually a good day to get people out, especially since school has started up everywhere. You don’t want to schedule things like this on Sunday during NFL and college football season, either. Plus, by Labor Day most people have burned their vacation time and are done traveling until Thanksgiving. So, go short. After discovering that 8/28 was the anniversary of the famous March on Washington Beck explained it as “divine providence”. Glenn likes to compare himself to Dr. Martin Luther King as well as many other great historical figures. This “coincidence” or “divine intervention” or just plain cynical business planning fits nicely with his claim that “we did civil rights”, a complete fabrication which I debunked in an earlier article on this website.

When you cut past the commercial garbage (books, hats, tees, posters, and did I mention books?) that comprises the bulk of this event, you are left with a short list of topics that are likely to be run past the throng of non-ticket holders (the event is free). You can expect to hear Obama demonized in every way imaginable up to but not including advocating for somebody to shoot him (Nugent has, in effect, already suggested just that in the venues full of neo-Nazis and skinheads that follow him around). As Nugent looks over the sea of faces he will be pleased that it is mostly if not all white, as he noted a few weeks back at one of his shows. Expect to hear totally false accusations that the Obama Administration is planning to take away citizen’s guns. Expect to hear that liberals, socialists, and especially PROGRESSIVES have the nation on a highway to hell where everybody’s hard-earned money will be taxed away from them and used for black reparations or maybe even FEMA concentration camps. Expect to hear that God has told Glenn Beck to announce that He has a Plan, although Glenn still doesn’t know what “The Plan” is. (I can tell you but I will do so in a different post). Expect to hear the TeaBaggers sucked up to by anyone from the GOP that sets foot on the stage. True Americans, that’s the story line. But the liberals… It’s socialism, socialism, socialism. But this is not politics, of course.

SOWF- stooges and political cover for Glenn Beck's 8-28 Restore Honor rally

SOWF- honoring dead veterans by providing political cover for Glenn Beck

There are many unanswered questions about the business practices of this so-called “charitable” event hiding behind the details of the IRS tax code (see Contributions to Nonqualified Organizations) about tax free fundraisers and politics. Questions abound regarding the beneficiaries’ role as a non-political charity, the claimed “non-political” nature of this event with at least 3 of the most polarizing political figures in American politics as key speakers, the bookkeeping, the many independent concessions who are supposed to be donating “the proceeds” of their sales to the charity, the cost of the event vs the facts regarding the value claimed for free promotion and advertising, speakers waiving fees, and so on. I sent an email to the Special Operations Warriors Foundation (SOWF) which has been described as a “reputable charity” asking them to address some of these points along with a few others. Not surprisingly, I received no response. I will keep pursuing financial information about this event as it becomes public information.

The Rally

Ted Nugent, synonymous with Glenn Beck rationale

Instead of having a dream, the keynote speaker of Beck's 8-28 event has a disease

In contrast to hearing Dr. Martin Luther King, the most eloquent speaker of his generation who was slain by an assassin’s bullet in 1968, there will be a short parade of fools stepping up to the podium. Glenn Beck’s mission: to redefine history, English words, the basic idea of citizenship in 21st Century America, and all the while defy common sense, commonly accepted truths, and common decency. Glenn Beck is actually hiding the full speaker list from the public. It has been suggested that representatives of the SOWF will be on the stage; it’s interesting to speculate if someone from the Board of Directors will dare set foot on the same stage with Glenn Beck. By now they must have realized that their entanglement with Beck is a colossal mistake that will cost them credibility from every corner of the US. They’ll probably put some pathetic-looking family or a great all-American success story that shows just how great their charity actually is. Beck has announced that Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent will be on the stage, and of course Beck will speak, no doubt about that. I predict that a few of the more hysterical right wingnut TeaBagger pols, e.g., Steve King and Michelle Bachmann, may show for a cameo. Also, the GOP will not pass on this so I will not be surprised if the Heavy Guns show up, maybe even Mitch McConnell.

There has been continuous free promotion for this rally on Fox News and Mercury Radio Arts stations since it was announced in early July. There are also 501c sponsors who are organizing bus rides, emailing their lists, and supporting in any other way they can. Since the tickets are free, one might expect that there should be a pretty good house. There are still enough fools, racists, gun nuts, crackheads, and haters left in America to fill the venue. It is still unclear how the turnout will be. 47 years ago the civil rights movement was grassroots driven. This rally is definitely coming from the top down. Beck will undoubtedly draw some of the faithful, but how many will really want to give up their Saturday when they can stay home and watch it on TV?

Sarah Palin

Palin claims to read all of the magazines

"Magazines? All of 'em, Katie. I also have read all the books and encyclopedias."

I have to wonder what exactly Sarah Palin might have to add to any discussion that revolves around the words “Restoring Honor”. MS Palin has a few problems of her own to avoid on that topic. Running as a neo-GOPER on the wedge issue of “abstinence only” education, she had her nose rubbed in it by being forced to stand onstage during the 2008 election campaign next to her pregnant teenage unmarried daughter. Her administration as Governor of Alaska has left skid marks all the way from Anchorage to Washington DC. She was embroiled in a multitude of scandals that can best be explained by Sarah confusing her official job title as “Queen of Alaska” rather than “Governor of Alaska”. With the hounds closing in on the chase, she bailed out on her term as Queen, er, Governor and took refuge among the crackhead TeaBaggers and the studios of Fox News, where she functions as window dressing, a Token TeaBagger, and a freak show all at the same time. Palin has given us a multitude of clues about her clueless world view that may surface on Saturday. She tried to claim foreign policy expertise by the physical proximity of her house to Russia. She coined and continues to use the lying phrase “death panels” when discussing health care reform even after admitting that her own family went to Canada to take advantage of their Single Payer system. She asserted that the Vice President’s role, which would have been her own if elected, was to run the Senate. These are just a few examples; there has already been a book of Palinisms published which you can buy and place next to your Bushisms tomes.

Marvelous Night for a Moosedance

Sarah Palin's finest hour in the media and she couldn't muster a response to the humiliating parody, she just sat there

When Palin takes the mic, she will reflect decades of grabbastic, ignorant, self-serving, conniving, manipulative behavior off of the gleam of her “hillbilly” charm. This banal woman, who arguably cost John McCain the 2008 election and has quite possibly ended his political career, has no idea of what “honor” means. She didn’t honor the values that she told everyone made her better than other candidates. She didn’t honor her oath to uphold the laws of the state of Alaska as she failed in a clumsy attempt to use state office to exact revenge in a family squabble. She didn’t honor her commitment to the GOP and the McCain campaign to work on their team and not for the future of her own political and monetary gain. And she didn’t honor her commitment to the citizens of Alaska who were stupid enough to trust her to finish out her term of office instead of running off to greener pastures. She will posture, she will pose, she will postulate, but she can’t deliver. Not one bit of it.

Ted Nugent

Next we move onto Ted Nugent. I have been aware of Nugent since 1968, since I was in a garage band and we played the Amboy Dukes’ single Journey to the Center of Your Mind. As an aside, the rabidly anti-drug Nugent swears that he didn’t know that the song was about drugs. Hmmm. I knew it was about drugs. The guys in my band knew it. WTF, Ted, you were 3 years older than most of us and living in Detroit. Who are you trying to kid?

Ted Nugent CD Cover Art for Love Grenade

Nothing says "honor" better than tying up a nude woman, sticking a hand grenade in her mouth, and presenting her as food on a plate. How honorable can it get?

Ted Nugent has no platform whatsoever from which to speak about honor. None. He is a depraved, openly racist, angry, misogynist whose only use for civilization is as a target at which he aims his foul invective. His sole claim to fame in the world of music is longevity; he has managed to hack out a career (literally) by pandering to a group of driveling headbangers, white supremacists, gun freaks, and heavy metal fans. His music is mediocre, puerile, egotistic, artless, and violent. His themes often include thinly disguised sexual commentary in which he expresses his mighty phallic power over the disgusting woman he is screwing in a new degrading way. He’s an opportunist who has grabbed onto whatever was passing him by and rode it as far as it would take him. What exactly would that be that he’s riding?

Well, he discovered through his somewhat Freudian obsession with guns that the NRA loves hippie-types who turn gun freak. If a long-hair musician advocates for guns then maybe some of the weak-minded who like their music will come along in tow. It’s always good to make the NRA appear to have diversity, even though everybody knows it’s just a white man’s conservative lobby. The NRA is so happy with Ted Nugent that they have made that ol’ hippie a board member. But Ted’s not your run-of-the-mill hippie. I’ve known hippies all my life and none of them would have said just about anything that Ted said HERE.

The hippies were loosely organized around the ideas of peace and love. Ted is about as far as you get from that. His answer to everything involves a gun. He believes in a legal code far stricter than Sharia law; Ted thinks that the death penalty should be applied instantaneously without hesitation or reason to anyone who is in the act of committing a crime or even for just being a political adversary. As an example, he’s wondered aloud during an interview why he can’t just shoot a Hare Krishna person in the spine. (Quotes on this too numerous to list. Just Google “ted nugent quotes”). Survival of the most heavily armed.

Confederate Nuge

The Confederate flag shirt goes nicely with the white supremacist racebaiting. Maybe Ted wants to restore the Honor of the slaveholder South.

His attitude towards anyone who is not a white male is infamous by the candor of his own foul mouth. He told the Detroit Free Press that South African blacks (in the context of a discussion on Apartheid) “still wear bones in their noses…[and] wipe their butts with their hands”. During a 2007 performance on his “Love Grenade” tour, he screamed into the microphone “Obama, he’s a piece of shit, and I told him to suck on my machine gun”. He announced recently at a performance in a Dubuque, Iowa casino that he was happy “there’s a lot of white people in this crowd—I like that!” and went on to congratulate Dubuque for being “a white town”. In 1994 Nugent said about Hillary Clinton in an interview with Westworld Newspaper: “You probably can’t use the term ‘toxic c*nt’ in your magazine, but that’s what she is … This bitch is nothing but a two-bit whore for Fidel Castro.” His opinion of Hillary Clinton and other women in the Democratic party hasn’t changed much since the 1994 interview. During the “Love Grenade” performance cited above, he called Clinton a “worthless bitch” and while waving an assault rifle suggested that she should “ride one of these into the sunset”. He also referred to Senators Feinstein and Boxer as “bitches” and “whores”.

The “Love Grenade” CD has a misogynist story all its own. The pre-release cover shows a nude brunette woman with her hands tied behind her back kneeling on a platter of vegetables (imitating the presentation of a roast pig dinner) with a hand grenade hanging out of her mouth. Nice. A nice honorable bondage photo on your CD. Did Glenn Beck know about that? It kind of fits into the Mormon model of how women are regarded. Later, it was “toned down” from a photo of an actual bondage model to a cartoon of the same photo. Then still later it was changed to a hand grenade with a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon on it. (Apparently Ted thinks women are inferior, filthy creatures that have breast cancer comin’ to them.)

Just as an aside, Hillary Clinton is the United States Secretary of State, one of the most powerful women in the world. Ted Nugent is a washed-up hack who has to resort to race-baiting to get a rise out of the drunken gambler crowd at Diamond Jo’s Casino in Dubuque, Iowa. Suck on THAT, Teddy.

Ted Nugent's concept of charity; give cripples the chance to shoot fenced-in animals

Ted Nugent's concept of charity; give cripples the chance to shoot fenced-in animals

Nugent has been attempting to put up a smokescreen of legitimacy as a strong advocate of conservation and responsible wildlife management as well as the very weird charity operation of providing hunting experiences to disabled people. He’s also been involved in the “D.A.R.E.” anti-drug campaigns you’ve seen all around on billboards. (If your town is doing these you might want to let them know you don’t believe that Ted Nugent belongs anywhere around young girls). But you don’t have to look too deeply to discover that Ted operates a “canned game farm”, a place where you go to “hunt” exotic animals in a cage. The cage is 340 acres, but the animals can’t get away, so this is similar to the Monty Python Twit Of The Year hunting event.

Shooting confined animals. Such sport

At Ted Nugent's farm, the animals aren't staked out like this rabbit but it's sort of the same thing

And just to put the icing on the cake, on August 10th (a couple of weeks ago) “ardent conservationist” Ted Nugent was busted for poaching in California. Poaching! Come on, man, poaching? He pleaded No Contest to baiting deer and hunting without a license. This guy has been a sitting board member of the NRA for 15 years! It’s OK, though, because he has apologized on his website. “To my Fellow Outdoorsmen…. You may have read the news that I pled [sic] no contest to two misdemeanor game violations. I should have been better informed, more aware and I take full responsibility.” What a weenie copout. What responsibility, hotshot? Your $1700 fine? Don’t make me laugh. Any decent person would resign from the NRA Board of Directors, then and sit down and STFU.

Glenn Beck

Author’s note: For those of you who are first-time visitors to this site, welcome. If you would like more background information on Glenn Beck, we have been documenting his lies, slurs, and outrages for nearly a year. Please bookmark, recommend on Facebook, Tweet, and come back to read more.

Beck has been waving the flag his whole life

That's Glenn waving the flag; on 8-28 he'll be beating his own drum, too

Expect Glenn Beck to be at the top of his game, smearing populists, progressives, liberals, socialists, communists, Marxists, and Nazis, and all the while accusing all of his political adversaries of being one or all of those at the same time. You can be sure that as a Cleon Skousen wannabe he won’t be able to resist accusing members of the current Administration of being communists who are (or were) plotting to surrender America to somebody. (North Korea? al-Qaeda? Who knows?) Glenn will implore Christians to rise up in one voice and fight the godlessness of a socialist government. (This overlooks the fact that he’s a Mormon, a fraudulent cult that uses the word “Christ” in its name but is heretical in a number of ways as documented here.) Oh, and let’s not forget that the country is crumbling, despite your efforts to Restore Honor, so get rid of your worthless currency and buy plenty of gold. Yes, gold, the new god of Glenn Beck.

There will be plenty of book plugs, of course, and announcements about future revelation of The Plan, which is really just a device to keep the rubes on the hook and tuning in to buy Goldline products. Expect plenty of self-congratulatory back-patting, thanking everybody for all the hard work they do to Restore Honor. Glenn will thank Sarah, who will thank Ted, who will probably call her some kind of demeaning name, who will then thank the NRA, and so on.

Restoring Honor

Teddy Roosevelt, one of the best-loved figures in American history, and also a Progressive

Progressive President Teddy Roosevelt's likeness is on Mount Rushmore, right between Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln

If Glenn discusses the topic of the rally, you will hear some whoppers about how it was the Progressives who ruined everything in America and caused all of our problems of today. He will claim that it’s today’s Progressives who are destroying the country, even though the last Progressive movement achievement was running Nixon out of DC and that was only with the help of the Democratic Party. I am working up a page about the Progressive and neo-Progressive movements (they have a few things in common) and I have a recommendation for you. If you just would like some historical perspective on the bullshit you are going to hear coming out of Glenn Beck, please do a bit of reading on what was happening to Americans in the decades of 1890-1910. There was no middle class. The economy was dictated to the worker class by a few extraordinarily rich people at the top of the food chain who could do anything they pleased. The worker class was virtually powerless.

The Progressives changed that, making the modern economy of the US possible. The Progressives introduced public education, secured woman’s right to vote, created the professional class, established educational standards for the professions (you couldn’t just start calling yourself “Doctor Beck” and start a “University”), created the middle class, started the union movement which led to people working for living wages and having some workplace rights, created food safety standards, drug standards, workplace safety standards, and so on. Further, the Progressives recognized that our society’s greatness is defined by how we treat the least among us, not how the top 1% live. Progressives believe that America is an organism, we are all part of the same social and economic experiment, and as such we all rise or sink together.

Nugent, Beck, and Palin

L-R: Nugent, Beck, and Palin just after 8-28 rally (with massive, heartfelt apologies to the families and friends of the best comedy team ever)

One thing you can count on NOT hearing from any of the speakers is any acknowledgment that the Bush Administration damaged America’s honor in ways that were unprecedented. Never before has any Executive branch ignored statute and Constitutional laws in ways that killed and injured millions of people. Never before have we had a President and Vice President casually admit to approving the torture of prisoners, some of them to death. Never before have we seen a city wiped out by a combination of natural disaster and man-made incompetence. Never before has the US suffered a terrorist attack when the President was doing a photo op after being too lazy or too stupid to comprehend the implications of a Presidential Daily Briefing, even one that said “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” Never before has any Administration worked against civil rights by instituting domestic spying under the dubious guise of “Homeland Security”. Never before has the President been so eager to attack the wrong country that he instructed his intelligence apparatus to manufacture lies. These are the true travesties that have sullied the honor of America, while emptying our treasury, devastating our economy, preying on those who cannot fight back, and shipping living wage jobs out of the country by the millions making jobs our biggest export (behind military weapons).

Since Glenn never has any facts to support his assertions about Progressives during his radio and TV shows, it follows that he will not have any facts at the rally, either. He just makes things up. He may have factoids, but that is not proof. You can’t take one detail and concoct an elaborate conclusion about a complex issue based on that one detail. Look for fallacious arguments. Look for revisionist history, which means he is a plain liar. Look for him to quote from “authorities” who have no real standing in their claimed field of expertise or the mainstream educational system, which he will demonize as being liberal. (If you want a non-liberal education you can sign up for Beck U online).

Above all, take a step back and enjoy the humongous irony of having three of the most absurdly partisan, insane, and fatally flawed individuals up on the national stage pretending to tell you what “Honor” is. OMFG. This is the irony of the century, or maybe even the millennium. This is like having Charles Manson giving an address to the national annual convention of the American Psychiatric Association. This is like Evel Knievel giving lectures on safe driving. Or maybe Larry Craig ranting on national TV about the sin of homosexuality. It’s going to be a good one, as phony as it gets, rotten to the core, a jaw-dropping spectacle of political insanity that stands a chance of causing the biggest popular backlash in American history. But not against the President, instead against those who are trying to stall, derail, and screw up solutions to the myriad of problems out there on the streets of America. Sometimes even the worst of intentions have unintended consequences. Glenn Beck’s weird attempt to consolidate his power among traditionally GOP groups has “blow up in your face” written all over it.

This post will be updated on a continuous basis as new information becomes available. Please check back often for these updates, and we welcome your comments on this post, as long as they are in better taste than Ted Nugent.

  6. You lie Wexler! Everything you write here is pure propaganda, you lack fact, you don’t back any of your speculation with any substance.

  7. “You lie Wexler! Everything you write here is pure propaganda, you lack fact, you don’t back any of your speculation with any substance.”

Really? Everything I have put on this page is backed up with quotes or research from at least two sources. The questions I raised about the charity are valid questions and I will get them answered.

“There’s no honor in what you write.”

Horse hockey. I’m performing the most honorable service to this nation that an individual can, which is setting the record straight on demagogues who pervert and destroy the meaning of our nation.

I couldn’t help but notice that you took time to accuse me of lying and being dishonorable; however, you failed to point out anything in my article that is untrue. You also failed to explain how pointing out fraudulent crackpots and their lies is dishonorable.

Thanks for playing, but you FAIL.

  8. I find it highly amusing that any time anybody comes on here and says that we’re lying, they fail to elaborate or point out an example. I suppose you really do channel Beck after all.

  9. I find it hard to believe Glenn Beck claims to say, he had no idea his Rally was scheduled on the same day as when Martin Luther King gave his “I have a Dream” speech. I mean really? I thought he was a History buff? Obviously, his history is rather selective. I wonder how many lemmings will be making the pilgramge to listen to doughboy cult leader. I’m sure they’ll be in the millions ;)

  10. Hi, Lisa… how’s it going?

You’re right, he’s a total expert on history and he keeps comparing himself to MLK, but he doesn’t even know when he’s booking over that anniversary. Unbelievable. I mean literally unbelievable.

He’s trying to tell us that this is divine providence. WTF? You’d have to be a complete idiot to believe that. Especially when you know anything about Mormon cult God. He’s a flesh and blood critter that walks around in clouds or somewhere. Glenn is lucky that Jesus’ twin brother Satan didn’t get him scheduled on Halloween. That could be problematic, think of all the Palin masks, free Glenn Beck masks (from this website, of course) and people putting mops on their heads and playing air guitar to imitate Ted Nugent. Oh, but they couldn’t do an authentic Teddy, because Glenn has prohibited “his people” from bringing guns to this rally.

I half expect this to be some kind of elaborate setup… Glenn has paid somebody to start a riot, or possibly to take a pot shot at the stage, or something like that so he can blame the “progressives” and get the sympathy thing going. I know this sounds a bit far-fetched, but the history Glenn seems to be most familiar with is the Third Reich. With all the skinheads that follow Ted Nugent around you have to wonder.

Well, if that happens, remember, you read it here first. *

  11. Glenn Beck possibly organizing a covert opoeration in getting a riot going? I’ve never thought of that but, now that you mention it, sounds plausible at this point in crazy Glenda land.

I wonder if Dr. Laura will be making a surprise appearance. Her and Ted holding hand’s showing racial solidarity, singings kumbaya, along side a gutted moose (for Sister Sara) wink;)

  14. Ted Nugent was in Portland yesterday. The reporter was asking him questions like, how you like the area and his musical influences. Ted’s response was, “I’d like to shoot your bears” even though it’s illegal to. And to his musical influences, he said ‘Bo Diddley. and a few other’s I can’t remember. But, then he told the reporter that black’s love his music. And he remember’s when he was playing guitar near a campfire with 3 naked black guy’s. lol, as soon as Ted said “naked” the reporter looked at the camera like “wtf?” I even hit rewind. First of all, why are they naked? apparently, the 3 of them were huddled together naked, in awe of Ted’s awsome guitar playing.
Anywhoo, I thought I’d share that weird nugget of information.

  15. I am in awe of how quickly and carefully Nuge and Beck scrubbed their websites of any word that he was to be on the speakers platform. I just looked over Ted’s site with a fine-toothed comb and there’s NOT ONE WORD about it. Wow.

I guess with people like this you have to take screen shots. Like the one I took from here…
    http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/41148/

that hasn’t been scrubbed as of 11:30 CDT today.

I’m surprised that Ted didn’t say he had 3 naked black men tied up and was getting to roast them for dinner. But first he had to kill them… with his music.

  17. I don’t mean to sound like an age-discriminatory person, but I think the reporter they sent to chat with Ted is too young to understand the ramifications of Ted.

I’ve been thinking about this gig in Boise thing that is supposed to be the cover for why he’s not doing the Beck Restore Honor Rally. I went on the Knitting Room’s website. You can buy a ticket to that show for $30. It holds up to 999 people depending upon the stage arrangement. The dressing room is 16′ X 20′. Bathroom across the hall. This is 1/5 the size of ballrooms my band was playing in the 70s.

Knowing Ted’s ego, which gig do you think he’d be doing if he had the choice?

  18. I don’t know why Matt Zaffino was chosen to interview Ted, because he’s the weather guy. I’ve never seen Matt interview anyone on KGW’s entertainment portion of the program. The reporter’s must have gotten together and did rock, paper, scissor’s and Matt ended up being the unfortunate one. Anyway, there’s enough footage that maybe one could do some Breitbart style editing magic, lol
I’d like to know why Ted pulled out on Beck’s grand “Restore Honor Rally” I really think Ted would have preferred that venue.

  19. I don’t think Ted pulled out, I think Beck’s people told Glenn to come to his senses. Maybe Rupert Murdoch told Beck to do it. Ted’s such a head case you can’t trust him to not say something totally off-the-wall, to a crowd of 50 in a crummy bar or to 3 million on TV.

BTW, someone posted elsewhere that if this was a truly “non-partisan” event, why are there no liberal interests or figures involved? Good point. I think they wrote “…. get back to me when Beck has 5 liberals on the stage…”

  20. Wow, Wexler, you like to compound your lies, with more lies!

Ted Nugent wasn’t ‘scrubbed’ from the Glenn Beck site, there’s no attempted cover-up here as you, being the liar you are, imply.

The point of the Coralville Courier report was that Keith Olbermann misinformed and failed to do even a little bit of homework. He failed to PROPERLY inform his audience, much as you do. Olbermann misinformed, both in that Ted Nugent is NOT appearing at the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor rally (Olbermann said he was) and that Ted Nugent did NOT say the racist things atributed to him at the concert in Dubuque (Olbermann regurgitated the supposed quote even though information was out there challenging the quote, another fact Olbermann omitted even though the information was available. Oh, you omitted it too – imagine that!).

If YOU did a little homework, you would know that Nugent was approached to appear at the Glenn Beck event back in June, but Nugent’s Boise, Idaho concert on 8/28 presented a conflict. I would contend you discovered that information, but omitted it from your report.

You are a liar, a biased, a shameless spinner, a man without honor.

  21. You’re a real dimwit. And you are uninformed, and you are un-informing your 5 readers with your right wing horse puckey.

The 8-28 flyer had Ted Nugent listed in the speakers list until last Friday, when I was trying to make sure that he would be there before I included him in my article which I wrote over the weekend. You are lying if you say otherwise. It is now scrubbed from the website as are any other references to Nugent except the one of which I got a screenshot. If you can find other references to Ted Nugent on Beck’s website, that is, in regards to him speaking in DC, please let me know and I will stand corrected on the “scrub” reference.

The reason why you are completely wrong on this is that you have such a bias that you can’t see the forest for the trees. If you gave it a moment’s thought, tell me why Ted Nugent would have booked a gig in a shitty little venue in Boise, Idaho rather than take his place on the stage next to Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin? (Please remember that I was in the entertainment industry for 15 years and I know how these things work). Even if Nugent had an IRONCLAD contract, and even if the venue would have been unwilling to reschedule, Teddy could have STILL done the event and taken a Lear back to Idaho in plenty of time to do the show.

You are blind. Either open your eyes or shut your piehole.

PS You have failed to explicitly point out one lie on this website. You fail, and your website is a POS, which makes perfect sense with shit-for-brains right-wing suckholes like you trying to eke our a living by preying on the fear of Americans.

  22. Um, first, it’s not my website. Second, your default to personal insult is very telling. Third, Nugent wasn’t scrubbed, you can pretend to claim that Nugent was listed as a speaker until just a few days ago, but that doesn’t make it true and you’re asking me to prove something that didn’t exist. The double-negative line of argument you’re using demonstrates your low road tactics. i.e., so, when did you stop malesting your daughter?

Regarding Nugent, he simply doesn’t play the big venues anymore (another one of your omissions and implying that he *usually* does, omissions and falsely premised claims presented as facts are every bit as bad as lying). Your charge that Beck is making big bucks off this is bogus (proceeds are going to charity) and Beck has put up personal money for the travel and hotel accomodations of the speakers. Not a smart business move for an event free and open to the public. Tell us, what exactly is being solicited that’s generating these big bucks? T-hirts? Proceeds going to SOWF. Other “Restore Honor” souvenoirs? Proceeds going to SOWF. And you know this is primarily being funded by donations right? Sure you did, but you spew lies anyway. By the way, that’s another one of your a’hem, errors, Marcus Lattrell is not a speaker, yes, he’s appearing on stage and Glenn Beck will probably introduce him to the audience and tell his story, but Lattrell isn’t doing some kind of monologue. You don’t do REAL homework, your intent is to misinform, it’s blatantly intentional. There’s no honor in that.

    Hey Doug.

Your argument is based on $$ which Ted doesn’t have to worry about, now, does he? Hahah, doesn’t play big venues any more… LOLOL of course he doesn’t, he’s a washed-up hack who hasn’t had any thought in his mind except pedophilia and bondage since he was 16 years old.

It’s about EXPOSURE, EGO, and SELF-AGGRANDIZEMENT, which Ted is really, REALLY into. He would not have passed on this opportunity to put his flaky self in front of Lincoln, not on your life. He was PUT out. He was shit-canned, undoubtedly because somebody came to their senses, and now it’s being SCRUBBED. The media have been reporting on Nugent’s scheduled appearance on the speaker’s list until last week. Where have you been, doing a self-colonoscopy with your empty noggin?

You may feel free to post again on this thread, but be advised that I don’t take kindly to people who continue to post that I’m lying when I’m not, so I’ll probably shit-can your posts, just like Beck shit-canned Nuge.

  24. Yes, the likes of MSNBC and Keith Olbermann were falsely reporting that Ted Nugent was a speaker at the Glenn Beck event as late as August 20th, DESPITE EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY AND IN EXISTENCE SINCE JUNE. Beck has been announcing on air, on TV and in print, the current line-up of speakers since July. No Ted Nugent, not a name being mentioned, not a name on the printed list.

At the time of Olbermann’s quip (August 20), there was no event schedule/announcement out there that had Nugent confirmed as a speaker, nada, zero, ziltch, nothing. Yet Olbermann spewed the falsehood that Nugent was speaking anyway. Saying something that isn’t true is called lying. Nugent wasn’t scrubbed from Beck’s site. Nugent being a speaker on the slate and that recently being announced but suddenly being hushed up as a result of the Dubuque concert is an out-and-out lie. Nugent’s Boise, Idaho concert was booked before you, MSNBC, and Keith Olbermann spewed intentional misinformation in recent weeks. You are guilty, it’s been demonstrated, you are a coward.

  25. Doug…

    You said

“Yes, the likes of MSNBC and Keith Olbermann were falsely reporting that Ted Nugent was a speaker at the Glenn Beck event as late as August 20th, DESPITE EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY AND IN EXISTENCE SINCE JUNE. Beck has been announcing on air, on TV and in print, the current line-up of speakers since July. No Ted Nugent, not a name being mentioned, not a name on the printed list. ”

    Can you prove that?

Yeah, actually, I know what I saw on Beck’s website last Friday. So you’re asking me to prove a negative. If I would have known that I was going to have to prove it to assholes like you and Glenn Beck, I would have taken a screen shot of it. But I’m the kind of person who assumes the best in people, and then YOU show up.

Did you hear the interview with Ted Nugent where he said

“So, if there’s tension, we are not the cause of tension. We are the monitors of tension. And we want it reduced to a peaceful assembly.”

That was on Glenn Beck’s show, while he was sitting next to Dr. Alveda King, who probably needs a thorazine by now.

Why? Because here are some OTHER things that Ted Nugent has said.

I’m a fun guy, not a sexist or a racist. I use the word nigger a lot
because I hang around with a lot of niggers.

    On Hillary Clinton:
Toxic cunt. This bitch is nothing but a two-bit whore for Fidel Castro. Worthless bitch.

    On the Confederate flag:
Those politically correct motherfuckers can take the flag down but I am
    going to wear it forever.

    On homosexuality:
A despicable act performed by guys that have sex with each other’s anal cavities.

    On Barack Obama:
A piece of shit. he can suck on my machine gun. An administration that is spitting on the US Constitution, the Ten Commandments, the Bill of Rights and the Golden Rule.

On a Hare Krishna person Ted didn’t even know:
And in my mind, I’m going why can’t I just shoot this guy in the spine right now; shoot him in the spine, explain the facts of life to him.

    On paranoid delusions
The war is coming to the streets of America and if you are not keeping and bearing and practicing with your arms then you will be helpless and you will be the victim of evil.

I can find plenty of other evidence to prove that Nugent has a history of making racist and inflammatory remarks and that he is a lightening rod for controversy. He also happens to be blood brothers with Glenn Beck. Beck wanted him on the stage to put the NRA crowd in his court… but when you think about it, the whole purpose of this “rally” is to rally the right wing white wing and if you deny that you’re not only ignorant but you’re delusional.

You’re a liar and a coward. You’re not a very good liar but you’re a great coward. The biggest fear you have is that someone will rock your delusional paradigm that tells you that Beck and Palin and Nugent and the rest represent the true meaning of being American when all they are is sensationalist whack jobs who appeal to the worst instincts of the human species.

I have no further use for you. You only keep repeating yourself, and frankly, I don’t give a shit what you think because you’re wrong.

I mean if just hating a president is racist…there are a lot of anti-Bush (ergo anti white) racists.

If hating (and using a pejorative about) Hillary is sexist…you might want to consider a anti-Randi Rhodes web site.

As to my being a fan, that’s irrelevant. I’m also a fan of CSN&Y, The Fugs (I don’t know your age…might want to look them up), and a slew of other left leaning, politically oriented bands.

  30. Kill, kill, kill for peace
In the near and the far and the middle east
If we don’t kill ‘em then the Chinese will
And we don’t want America to play second fiddle…

Yes, as a lad I smoked many a doob and contemplated the works of Tuli Kupferberg and Co.

But I digress. Are you disputing that Nuge said that? Ahh…. I don’t think so. This was reported by the local newspaper, and given Ted’s propensity to say or do anything at any time (except come up with a song that doesn’t sound exactly like the last 200 he’s played) I’d say it sticks. Sooner or later somebody’s gritty phone camera video will hit YouTube and the lying phase of this will be over. Then the blaming phase can begin, I guess.

Hating the President because he’s black is a problem. And that’s the TeaBagger problem. They are white supremacists who see their natural advantage in the USA disappearing. Glenn Beck is one of the people trying to hold them together and make things like they were in the Olden Daze. Doncha get it? It’s just about race. Black people have been treated like second class citizens in this country since the slavery days. Why would Obama expect any different?

Again, it’s not hating Hillary that’s sexist, it’s being a sexist and hating her because of it. She’s a woman with some political power. A lot of traditional white men do not like that , not one bit. So I’m putting it to you that someone who hates Hillary because of her power probably hates all women in general, and it’s not normal and it is something you should see a therapist for.

What Nugent said about Clinton was she should “ride one of these” (indicating assault rifle) outta town. That, I believe, meant to everybody in the room that she should insert the gun into her vagina and then leave town. The Obama remark was threatening; more like Obama should suck on this… meaning put the barrel of it in his mouth and be shot.

I don’t know what your politics is like, but I’ve pretty much been a socialist liberal for my whole life. When the Catcher in the Rye dude shot Reagan, it pissed me off. Not because of me being a big fan of Reagan or his policies, but because his elected office represents every single American citizen. I felt as if Hinckley shot at me. Thank Thor that there was a SS agent there who was ready to lay down his life for him if necessary.

Anyway, when putzes and washed-up hacks like Nugent try to mix politics with their failing act, it doesn’t turn out well. People don’t go out to discuss politics, they wanna hear some music. So, here’s some free advice for Ted: STFU and play your guitar. Intelligent people will take care of the world, we don’t need your help.

  31. “This was reported by the local newspaper…”

In this day and age, and with all that sound equipment, not a single audio source can be provided?

As I recall, there were reports of the word “N*****” being yelled at Congressman during the Health Care vote. Despite hundreds audio/video recording devices in the area, nobody picked that up either.

As to whether he should “STFU and play (his) guitar.” Again your being pretty darn selective. You give the same “Shut up and (play/act/sing)” to Bono, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, etc.?

    VMSmitheNo Gravatar

    29 Aug 10 at 6:37 am

  32. VM,

Let me ask you these questions, then I will respond to yours. First, do you disagree with my assertion that Ted Nugent would be totally in character if he said that? It’s not like he’s never made a racially-charged comment before, now, is it? Second, what does reporting mean to you? Does it mean that you have to see it or hear it or you don’t believe it? How about the cobbled-up tape that James O’Keefe put together to “prove” that ACORN was trying to register illegal aliens? That was debunked as a total lie, but there it was, right on tape, right there for you to see and hear with your own eyes?

My point(s) are that if a reporter put that in the newspaper, and hasn’t retracted it (which I believe is the case) then I tend to believe it. The paper has no reason to bring Ted Nugent’s wrath down on themselves in a libel suit. Secondly, I have demonstrated that Ted Nugent has said much worse things in the past. Why do you find this comment to be off the wall? It’s not, at least for him.

Now onto the relative merits of artist/musician/actors activism. If Bono, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen, or anyone else said the same things that Ted Nugent said, I would advise them to STFU, too. And I would stop supporting them by purchasing their work in any way. But surely you can’t be comparing Bono’s work to end poverty, world hunger, and police states to Ted Nugent’s racist death threats to our President? Surely you can’t be comparing Sean Penn’s work in poverty, clean water, disaster relief, human rights, and the environment to Nugent’s 340 acre shoot-em-up game farm which still doesn’t satisfy his need to kill enough so he has to go POACHING in California. Surely you can’t be comparing Martin Sheen’s work in conservation, environment, voter education, human rights, and homelessness to Nuge’s suggestion to Hillary Clinton that she’s a “worthless whore” and should stick his gun in her vagina.

    Surely.

Do you see the difference or do you need it spelled out further? I’m wondering now if you have a point in there somewhere that I’m missing. If that’s the case, please let me know.

  33. Now why don’t u “report” on the racist tactics used by the left. The fact is u can find nut jobs in every segment of society. Remember when CNN and MSNBC showed a close up of the tea partier with a gun? They insinuated the man was a white person. Yeah, they managed to edit the video so that his skin color wasn’t shown. He was African American. And what about the white SEIU member who knocked down a black man for handing out buttons and flags and protesting the out of control govt. Or how about the black panthers using scare tactics against to “convince” people to vote for Obama or don’t vote at all. So all u idiots who bash Fox should take a look at your beloved leftist propaganda outlets and be a lot more fair about it.

Don’t accuse us of siding with the Black Panthers. That’s a lie.

Yes, the left media has done some bad stuff in terms of race. But it’s not our job to report on that. Our job is to report on Beck.

Besides, you really have to look at this objectively – the left is accusing others of being racist, sometimes being wrong. The right is… just racist. You can’t seriously tell me that the Tea Party isn’t a racist organization, or that Beck isn’t a racist man.

    Thanks for your comment.

  35. No, from what little I know of him, I don’t believe it would be in character. And when you make an accusation of that magnitude, you should be able to back it up with audio evidence.

While his comments to Hillary and Obama are filled with both profanity and hyperbole, you have yet to evidence the RACISM (or sexism for that matter). The propensity to use profanity is not an indicative of a propensity towards racism.

You are using the same tactic most people who defend Obama use; “the only possible objection to Obama is rooted in racism, not politics.” Long before Obama even became a candidate, Nugent spoke out politically. He has been consistent in his manner of speech towards his opposition male or female, white or black. And by the way, stylistically, I don’t see it as being that different than yours.

As to the reporter’s fear of a law suit, no, he could not prove damages from a tiny article in a 3rd rate newspaper. No lawyer would advise him to pursue it. No more so than any lawyer would advise him to sue this site for the comment earlier that he was pedophilic, because you have virtually no impact on his sales and to do so only gives the accuser free publicity.

Yes, I would very much compare the charitable works of Nugent (what ever they may be) with those of Bono, etc.. The point is he does charitable works, now just because you don’t agree with him, or what charities he involves himself with, is another irrelevancy. Does one have to champion only left-wing causes to be allowed to speak out?

When I said “what ever they may be” I was being consistent. I don’t care what the political opinion of any musician/actor/director is, right or left. I asked you because I detected (and you confirmed) a lack of the same consistency.

It has been a long day if I missed anything you asked of me, I’m not dodging, I am fatigued.

    29 Aug 10 at 4:46 pm

  36. VM…

I disagree with you on all your points. No, there is not a need for audio evidence. Yes, there is evidence of Nugent’s racism and I have provided it. No, I have not said that the only reason that people can object to Obama is racism (I didn’t vote for him myself). Yes, Ted has sued people over things they have said about him. No, his charitable work on the exotic game-in-a-cage turkey shoot is not equivalent to any of the other people’s work.

Sorry you’re fatigued. I am, too. Can we just agree to disagree?
