Deconstructing Glenn Beck Lies

Alveda King, Others Lying at 8/28 Rally

with 16 comments

Aside from other reasons, Glenn Beck’s 8/28 hate and liefest is getting a lot of publicity because of one of his main guests – Dr. Alveda King. Alveda King is the niece of Rev. Martin Luther King Junior. And she is off her rocker. Many people seem to think that just because she signs off on Glenn Beck’s “let’s pretend we like black people” day, that means that this rally really is some sort of neo-civil rights thing. It really couldn’t be farther from the truth.

I certainly don't. We don't need more people lying about their ancestors.

Alveda King is NOT Martin Luther King Junior’s legacy. Relation means nothing if the opinions aren’t the same. And they certainly are not. Many people, including REAL civil rights leaders, were marching in a counter-protest across the National Mall today, led by the Reverend Al Sharpton. Al Sharpton really does work for Martin Luther King’s goals, and really does embody many of the values that King held.

Alveda King grew up running from racists and such, and for that reason I really can’t understand why she’s doing what she is. Is she just as ignorant as so many others in thinking that the Tea Party really isn’t racist? In that conservatives at large really have no problems with intolerance? Well, of course, Ms. King really is no stranger to intolerance herself. She’s spoken out against gay marriage and abortion, as well as of course all of the intolerance that comes built in with being a conservative.

It seems that for many, sadly including his own misguided niece, Martin Luther King has become somewhat of a Jesus. And by that, I mean a great figure whose words and meanings are misconstrued by people and twisted to fit their own evil purposes. Can anybody really look at me with a straight face, and tell me that MLK would have supported Glenn Beck? That he would have supported Fox News, and all of the racism and lies that it’s purported over the years? Would have invited people like Ted Nugent to do anything at all, whether or not it was canceled at the last minute?

No, you're right. These guys are totally wrong about the man they spent so much time agreeing with.

Are you having fun yet? Because here comes the doozy. Coretta Scott King, wife of MLK, has spoken on issues in direct opposition to her niece. So, let’s see here. Who do you think you knew Martin Luther King, Jr. better? His wife, friends and those that marched alongside him? Or his rabid niece and a bunch of lying, intolerant racists and liars? If you sided with the former, then you are most likely a relatively smart person that can tell history from BS. If you chose the latter, then if you weren’t at today’s rally, then you probably wanted to be; and I’m sure that you would have fit right in with all of the Teabaggers and Beckerheads.

Alveda King has spoken out against both gay marriage and abortion – and Coretta Scott King has spoken in favor of both of these things. So have many former civil rights leaders, if not always for women’s rights, then certainly for gay rights. Alveda King is a generation, several IQ points, and a good deal of honor behind her uncle and those that surrounded him.

"Operation: Pretend I Like Black People is going pretty well."

Martin Luther King Jr. was an honorable man, and did more for this country than people will ever realize. His wife and those that stood beside him, such as Rev. Al Sharpton, have done a great job of carrying on his legacy. Glenn Beck is a liar and a hypocrite, and wouldn’t know honor if it slapped him across the face. He and those that follow him have done more than many know in the name of indoctrination, hypocrisy, racism, and intolerance. This disgusting soiling of King’s name by Glenn Beck is completely unacceptable. He is trying to become the next MLK, and any time that he or anybody else say otherwise is a complete lie – as proven by himself.

The next thing we know, Ted Nugent and his skinhead buddies will be trying to reclaim Abraham Lincoln. Or hell, maybe in a few decades NOM will attempt to reclaim Harvey Milk. Well guess what? You fail. You all fail. The next time you’re a civil rights leader is the next time that I’m a Mormon and love Faux News. Screw you, Glenn Beck. You’re a liar and a disgrace to the species.

  5. Haha.

I wouldn’t say I hate all rallies, and I am guilty of attending a few myself. What I hate is when people lie about the purpose of rallies and their circumstances.

    Thanks for your comment.

  6. A lot of venomous write-ups about the Restoring Honor Rally, I just Googled it and came up with the following… http://fb.me/B7k4T6K7

  7. So what is the countdown clock all about up in the corner?

  8. Hi, Chris,

This is the Michael Weiner “Savage” tribute clock. 9 months or so, Weiner went on a rant against Glenn Beck and called him a “hemorrhoid with eyes” and predicted that Glenn would be off the air in 90 days. We couldn’t agree more with the wishful thinking, so in honor of this I put up the Temple of Doom Countdown Clock.

I’ve already granted Glenn 2 extensions on behalf of Mr. Weiner, but he has not contacted me personally to let me know whether I should issue another one.

  10. Lol. doesn’t every family have at least one “nutjob” in their family? Alveda is the blacksheep of her family. And from my understanding, she is not in Dr. King’s immediate family fold.
And what was up with that so called “rally”? I think people showed up expecting to get their marching orders from Beck and instead got a long winded sermon on faith.

  11. Hi, Lisa!

Dr. Alveda claims to have more connection with MLK because she “has his DNA”. She’s so much like MLK that she would attend a white supremacist’s rally as the token nod to the 47th anniversary of her uncle’s speech. “See, everybody, it’s OK, we’re not racists, the Negro King woman is onstage with us.” If MLK was one thing, it was definitely not naive. He would NEVER have attended Beck’s event, no matter what was in his DNA.

The rally itself was an attempt to make up a whole lot of religious garbage to unite the righty fundies with the Mormon cult. After all we’re all “Christians”, right? (Wrong).

I may come back and edit this comment with more material, but I have to run for now. Thanks for stopping by, Lisa.

  12. I came across an intresting Christian radio station today (by accident. And the whole topic was about his rally. They were doing a break down on his talking points on religion, pointing out the vast difference between the Christian gospels and The book of Mormon. And although they share political views, Christians must understand that Mormonism is a cult, and the bible warns of “false prophets” such as Glenn Beck. They, seem to be pissed that he’s attempting to “marry” the two religions. The whole show was rather juicy, just thought I’d pass that along:)

  13. I find it funny that Alveda appears to “know” what MLKJr would be thinking, when she’s a tangential relative.

However, MLKJr.’s own offspring son was NOT at Beck’s gospel gathering, preparing for the day when they don the purple blanket and lie down waiting for the comet …

  14. It’s apparent that the whole idea was to lend some credibility to the outrageous and inaccurate claims that Beck and others made that day by having Alveda on the stage. This is a blatant attempt to defuse any criticism that Beck was trying to steal MLK’s thunder.

I believe that the Beck stunt on 8-28 has backfired as I predicted. He has lost his vaunted 9.12 Project by throwing them under the bus. That’s what you get with a spoiled ADD kid. They want a toy, then when they get tired of it they break it.

    Thanks for your insightful comment.
