BTW, the article you are commenting on notes that Beck lost a million viewers in 9 months… and it wasn’t because it’s “summer”. And then he lost another 25% of his viewers in May. Again, NOT summer.

There is a good article in the new Mother Jones magazine that discusses the morality of abusing the public trust. As an entertainer, there is an obligation to your audience to tell the truth and it’s obvious that truth is the farthest thing from Beck’s mind. Glenn Beck is cashing in millions hawking precious metals and laughing all the way to the bank.

Obviously there is a major conflict of interest when Beck seamlessly moves back and forth between his doomsday scenario for the dollar and advice to buy gold to gold commercials and then back again. Representative Anthony Wiener suggested that since gold is being used as an investment medium, those who sell it ought to be required to disclose its value and prospects just as you would any other investment. (You know, those annoying reports you get from your 401k investments). Beck’s response was to tell his listeners to send pictures to Washington of Anthony Wiener with a wiener for a nose.

So in other words, what Beck and Goldline don’t want you to know is that gold is a lousy investment, it is a sure loser in the long haul. Gold prices go up and down all the time. Fortunes have been made and lost in the process.
